About Maria

“I paint the moment a garden turns to colour.”

Maria Saevets is a painter based in Sydney, Australia. She paints gardens, trees and birds in saturated colour and thick, sculpted brushwork. Her canvases move between a decorative, almost tapestry-like flatness and loose impressionist light. In watercolour she turns to the sea, beaches and city streets.

Every painting on this site is a signed original. Maria also takes commissions: a favourite place, a building or a garden painted for you.
